I served in the Army.

James Elvis Parten, 75, of Belton passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at a local hospital.

He was born to the late L.M. & Celeste Parten in Hubbard Texas on September 29, 1941. He graduated from Mexia High School in May of 1959 and, thereafter, attended one year at Stephen F. Austin University studying Music. He joined the US Army in June 1960 until his retirement in March of 1983 with the rank of CWO3 (Chief Warrant Officer).

He was first sent to Vietnam as part of the 3rd Signal Battalion in June of 1962 and spent a total of 3 tours of duty there as well as Japan and West Germany where he met and married the late Anna Marie Westrich in April of 1966. After a tragic auto accident in 2000, he became care taker for her until her death in 2014.

He found love again and married Donna Marie Bodden in April of 2015.

He is survived by his wife Donna Bodden Parten; three children, Jennifer, Jonas and wife Laura and Jim and wife Christienne; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Parker, Anna Maria and Eli. One Sister, Janelle Travis, survives him with two other siblings pre-deceasing, Linda Rudasill and Joe Lloyd Parten.
